Confidence is often linked with self-esteem and self-worth but it is self-assurance. It’s in fact believing that you have much to offer and that you are valuable. It also means trusting yourself to be able to handle any situation that comes your way which is a preparation by gaining knowledge and experience. Thus, confidence and self-trust requires motivation. However, we often, don’t strive for what we want because either we don’t believe we are capable of achieving it, or because we aren’t motivated. And this, is the moment when you start doubting yourself because you aren’t motivated due to fear of failure, often caused by believing you’re not capable or not worthy of success and your capabilities.
Yet self-doubts creep in, don’t they? They tend to appear through actions or words such as: Can I really do this?, Other people are better and smarter, What will other people think if I do/say this?, Oh no I can’t risk failure. Know that thinking less positively about yourself and your capabilities creates a loss of self confidence. So, in order to gain self confidence, rather than continue losing it, just do the opposite – Find a cause that you believe in and make sure to look for causes and projects that appeal to you and you’re actually believing in. The passion that you feel for these causes and projects will help you to work harder and see how much you can achieve. Therefore, set realistic goals, it will help you to believe in yourself and your ability to accomplish things. Make also sure to develop goals that are in line with your skills and that are attainable. Create opportunities to prove to yourself that you are more than you currently believe you are and you want something bigger, learn something completely new. Start a company, own a business or something that scares you. Remember that the more you know and understand, the better you’re able to make right decisions while handling situations
Otherwise it’s very easy to get stuck in trying to make decisions, right? but you’re still allowed to correct your course as you go along. In fact, getting caught up in a decision is another surefire way to water the seeds of self-doubt. Try questioning if you should go with plan A or plan B, it can exacerbate self-doubt, as you’re already making a decision. Usually, your first reaction is going to be your best since it typically comes from a place of intuition. All in all, you don’t have to exercise, lose weight, make a lot of money, wear fancy clothes, or look like a super model to feel more self confident. After all, having more confidence in yourself is simply a matter of thinking more positively about yourself and your capabilities.
